The Limpopo Trail In Association with The Outpost Lodge
We offer the Guest the opportunity of walking in
the spectacular 24000 hectare Makuleke
Concession while also being able to enjoy the
luxury environment of a 5 Star Lodge with all
the accompanying amenities. Walk with us
either from the Lodge itself into the
surrounding bushveld and the area around the
confluence of the Luvuvhu and Mutale Rivers or
we drive to other jump-off points within the
Reserve and walk from the vehicle thus allowing
a great deal of flexibility depending on the
movement of the game and weather. Located on the
side of a sandstone ridge, the 12 Guest rooms
have incredible views over the Luvuvhu River
valley with guests often enjoying good sightings
of elephant and buffalo coming down to water in
the shallow waters of the river.
Arriving back at the Lodge after the morning
walk, guests enjoy a typical sumptuous English
Breakfast then have time to themselves to relax,
sit by the pool with a long drink or enjoy a
quiet siesta followed by a light lunch and the
afternoon activity. Afternoon walks/drives
culminate at the many good vantage points to
view the African sun dip beneath the horizon
with the inevitable sundowner drink in hand. The
drive back to the lodge is conducted in the dark
with a spotlight to view the nocturnal nightlife
of the Concession while on arrival the friendly
Makuleke Outpost staff will welcome you back to
enjoy a relaxing drink before dinner is served
on the pool deck lit only by lamp light.
There are no set dates of departure nor
duration for the trails, these are determined by
you, the guest, as to when you want to arrive,
how long you want to stay and when you would
prefer to depart. Meal times are also flexible,
particularly Brunch when arrival back at the
lodge is largely determined by the sightings and
duration of the morning walk. Shangani
Trails and The Outpost look forward to your
company on the Limpopo Trail, walking with us in
this very special and unique area of the Kruger
National Park.
